what I’m FOR

Over the duration of EVERY summer, I become completely absorbed in THIS.

And I want to honor this, here, before I (very) slowly (more slowly than you probably can imagine, actually) make the transition back to my own studio.

I stand for:

BOOKS! actual, tangible books

art making as community

art making as an alternative language

pure deLIGHT

inclusivity.

peaceful, reflective, public spaces

PLAYFULNESS

the fact that art making can happen anywhere with anything

art making as a means of self soothing

TIME to imagine, transition, reflect, assimilate

simple pleasures

making messes

as many learning styles as there are people

a belief that art can save lives. It saved mine.

these younger people being OUR teachers

and so much MORE

(but you get my drift)

I love ALL these young artists SO MUCH. Please protect them. They ARE our wonder-filled future.

Thank you, @artsmia, Urban Sketchers, Twin Cities, @glamdolldonuts and @mcadgallery for continuously providing an extended community for us

and, thank you, parents, for trusting me with your children
